Education

Note: Dr. Parkes is a professor at King's College London and is serving as a Visiting Professor at UNC Chapel Hill for the Fall 2024 semester.

Research Interests

I research the history of twentieth century American politics, diplomacy and society, with a particular interest in the role played by sexuality in shaping political events. After completing a Ph.D. in International History at the London School of Economics in 2016, I taught in the LSE International History Department and the English Language Centre at King’s College London. I was also a fellow of the interdisciplinary course LSE100 from 2013-2016. In 2019 I joined the King’s College London Department of History.
