UNC-KCL Transatlantic Approaches Workshop

Every year, the UNC History Department co-organizes a two-part workshop for graduate students at UNC and King’s College London. This is an opportunity for students to present their research internationally and gain valuable feedback on their work from faculty and peers.
This year’s UNC-KCL workshop is happening next week on September 11-12 in Pauli Murray Rm. 569. The two-day workshop features the research of 5 panels of graduate students. Four of the grad students come from our partner institution, King’s College London’s History Department. All students, faculty, and community members affiliated with the UNC History Department are welcome to come out to learn from and support our fellow colleagues as they present their current research.

*Though the History Department uses the name Pauli Murray Hall for our building, on official maps you will find it as Hamilton Hall. Joseph Grégoire de Roulhac Hamilton’s intellectually dishonest historical and archival work promoted white supremacy. In contrast, Pauli Murray marshaled unassailable evidence and analysis in the service of racial and gender equality. In July 2020, all of the departments housed in the building agreed to adopt the name Pauli Murray Hall in place of Hamilton Hall. An official request with the Chancellor is pending.
