Sacred Nine Project: The Mending Sampler

A night of music and performance inspired by Dr. John Wood Sweet’s The Sewing Girl’s Tale: Crime and Consequences in Revolutionary America. The Sacred Nine Project’s performance, “The Mending Sampler: Lanah Sawyer and the cost of courage in Revolutionary America,” will feature music produced by C. Leonard Raybon with piano performances from Daniel Spiegal and vocal performance from UNC music students Eden Rosenbaum, Isabelle Kosempa, Cameron Davis, and Ethan Bunch. In addition, a historic recreation of the garmet worn by Lanah Sawyer made by E. Katherine Hargrove and sponsored by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation will be featured in the performance.

The one-night-only event will take place in historic Person Hall on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Admission is free.

 

The event is co-sponsored by the Department of History, Department of Music, and the Institute of the Arts and Humanities at UNC Chapel Hill.
