Congratulations to Dr. Morgan Pitelka, whose 2022 book, Reading Medieval Ruins: Urban Life and Destruction in Sixteenth-Century Japan (Cambridge University Press), was recently honored by the International Convention of Asia Scholars as one of the ten best Asian studies books in the humanities. The Association for Asian Studies also awarded Pitelka’s book with an honorable mention for the John Whitney Hall prize, the most prestigious distinction in Japanese studies.
