At the recent annual meeting of the Southern Conference on Slavic Studies, Professor Emeritus Don Raleigh was presented by six of his former PhD students with the first of three installments of a festschrift in his honor at a panel entitled “Feting a Festschrift: Students of Don Raleigh Discuss His Impact on Their Scholarship.” Chaired by Christopher Ward, the panel featured Paula Michaels, Nicholas Ganson (UNC, ’06), Sharon Kowalsky (UNC, ’04) and Jeff Jones (UNC, ’99).
Building on this presentation, the festschrift will comprise all three issues of volume 50 (2023) of the journal The Soviet and Post-Soviet Review.
This tribute is a mark of Don’s impact both as a scholar and as a dedicated mentor. Congratulations and thank you for your long-time contribution to our department!
