Professor Jim Leloudis recently testified in a court case challenging North Carolina’s 2018 Voter I.D. Law. The lawsuit, filed by the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, argues the law suppresses Black voters in the state. Professor Leloudis’s testimony was based on his recently published book, Fragile Democracy: The Struggle Over Race and Voting Rights in North Carolina, which he wrote with Duke Professor Robert Korstad. The book was published by UNC Press in 2020.
