My general interests are belief systems, the interactions between belief systems, the effect of power on belief systems, and change in belief systems over time. With my thesis, I looked at the manner in which changes in a medieval king’s beliefs affected his own expressions of religiosity as well as royal policy. For my dissertation, I focus on memory and the evolving formulation of Franciscan identity in the thirteenth century.
