Research Interests
He taught and wrote primarily on twentieth-century American history, with particular interest in gender, popular culture, and pedagogy. Each year he taught an undergraduate course on “The United States since 1945,” in which he made extensive use of visual “texts” (photographs, paintings, television). He also taught a graduate seminar, “Introduction to Historical Education,” in which students produced a syllabus for an undergraduate course as well as several lectures and discussions. He retired in May 2007.
