“The Conference” Film Screening & Discussion

October 13, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

As part of the 2022 Campus Weeks: Germany on Campus, join us for a film screening and discussion of the 2022 German film, The Conference! Originally entitled Die Wannseekonferenz, the film depicts the notorious January 1942 meeting of Nazi leaders at a villa in Berlin-Wansee. The exclusive topic of the approximately 90-minute discussion is what the National Socialists called the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question”, the systematic mass murder of millions of Jews from all over Europe. A fictionalized TV film on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the historical event, based on the minutes of the meeting written by Adolf Eichmann.

UNC History Professor Karen Auerbach will be joined by Dr. Priscilla Layne (Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages & Literatures, African American and Diaspora Studies), Ruth von Bernuth (Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages & Literatures), and Yaron Shemer (Department of Asian Studies) for this conversation.
