Hayti Heritage Center Lecture – Nishani Frazier

As part of the programming for the Museum of Durham History’s current exhibit, The Life and Legacy of Floyd B. McKissick Sr., they are hosting a historical lecture at the Hayti Heritage Center on February 1st, 2023, from 6-7:30pm.

This lecture will be given by Dr. Nishani Frazier on the topics of the Black Power Movement (then and now), financial freedom in African-American communities, and the Congress On Racial Equality. Particular attention will be given to understanding the revolutionary elements of urban planning and cooperative economics, which inspired McKissick’s vision and design of Soul City. Dr. Frazier is an Associate Professor of American Studies and History at the University of Kansas.
