Our very own History PhD alumni, Craig Gill has published a new book – Caddying on the Color Line. This insightful study explores how Southern Black caddies transformed what was once perceived as an unskilled job into a profession, honed their own golfing expertise, and laid the groundwork for Tiger Woods’ rise. Their history sheds light on racial tensions, the golf cart’s emergence, and the decline of Black professional golfers since the 1960s. Though often overlooked, these men’s daily struggles and triumphs were marked by resilience, skill, and pride.
Please help us in congratulating Craig Gill!
