Congratulations to long-time member of the History Department and prolific scholar of German History, Dr. Konrad Jarausch for the publication of his new book! Dr. Jarausch’s memoir, The Burden of German Hisory: A Transatlantic Life (Berghahn, 2023) “presents a sustained academic reflection on the post-war German effort to cope with the guilt of the Holocaust” through the lens of his own experience and that of a generation of scholars who were “too young to have been perpetrators.” Partly professional, partly autobiographical, the book reflects carefully on the “emergence of a self-critical historiography of a twentieth-century Germany…wrestling with the responsibility for war and genocide.”
Dr. Jarausch’s book is now available for purchase through Berghahn. Congratulations on this new publication!
