Kathleen Duval, the Bowman and Gordon Gray Professor of History, will be featured this coming Sunday, September 18th at 2 p.m. on “Book Breaks”! Book Breaks is an educational series aimed at K-12 and college students and educators managed by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Duval has co-written a seventh edition of the book Give me Liberty! with award-winning historians Eric Foner (Dewitt Clinton Professor Emeritus of History at Columbia University) and Lisa McGirr (Professor of History at Harvard University).
Give Me Liberty! is an authoritative and concise introduction into American history. In the new edition to be discussed on Book Breaks, the co-authors provide readers new pedagogical tools for the classroom and support for developing critical thinking skills. Moreover, Foner, Duval, and McGirr have enhanced the book’s coverage of Native American history with an emphasis on “how it refines our understanding of freedom– the book’s urgent guiding theme.”
You can find more about Book Breaks here and find out how to subscribe to Book Breaks. Please note that these are free to K-12 teachers and teachers as well as college students!
Congratulations to Dr. Duval for the new books! We look forward to the conversation!
