Congratulations to Sam Zahn for being named a 2021 Truman Scholar. Sam is a major in History and Political Science, a Robertson Scholar, and current student member of the Undergraduate Studies Committee in History. He has dedicated his time on campus to fighting antisemitism through a course he developed, Confronting Antisemitism, as well as through a variety of on-campus activities associated with his term as President and Programming Chair of UNC’s Chabad student group.

The Truman Scholarship awards merit-based scholarships to college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service. Scholars are required to work in public service for three of the seven years following completion of a Foundation-funded graduate degree program as a condition of receiving funding.

Sam hopes to attend law school after graduating and become an attorney for the American Defamation League.
