I study religion and culture in the Atlantic World. My dissertation, “Hope and the Holy Spirit: The Global Pentecostal Movement in Brazil and Nigeria, 1910–2010,” examined Pentecostal Christianity, while my current research explores the supernatural more broadly. Major themes of my research and teaching are race, religion, national identity, and globalization.
