Major Field: Modern European and Gender History
Advisor: Konrad Jarausch; co-advisor: Karen Hagemann
Research Interests: My dissertation concerns the influence of the West German New Women's Movement, a diverse group of women who sought changes in areas such as reproductive rights, education, and career opportunities for women, on changing notions of the gendered division of labor in the media, government, and institutions including the welfare state from 1968-1989. In addition to feminist movements, my academic interests include gender theory, the theory and history of sexuality, political culture, and motherhood in a historical perspective, in addition to a secondary field in Eastern European History. I am a member of the Graduate Working Group in Gender History and the Working Group in Feminism in History.
