Research Interests: My dissertation focuses on the emergence of the German-American scholarly community of German history after 1945. At the center of my interest is the development of the initially very different German and American interpretations of Modern German history. I will also explore how emigrant historians shaped German history in the United States and how German historians (who studied or taught in the US) were influenced by their contact with members of the American historical profession. My goal is to reveal the mutual impact which I believe characterized the relations between American and German scholars after World War II.
