Research Interests: My research considers the transformations of German Protestant Culture from the end of the Second World War until the early 1970s. More specifically, I am looking at the contestation and negotiation of German Protestant identity in the political, social, and cultural discussions and debates of the Deutscher Evangelischer Kirchentage, or German Protestant Lay-Assemblies. My focus is on conceptions of the place of the German nation in the past, present, and future; changing understandings of the relationship between personal religious belief and political action; and changing ideas concerning economic and social justice.
