Research Interests: I study the Enron bankruptcy and its political fallout to examine the role of large corporations in contemporary US society and culture, and how that role is construed and perceived. Main themes of analysis include: democracy and the democratic process; legitimacy and accountability of leadership; contestation over who does or does not "understand" technological, economic or legal issues; and conceptions of the American way, the American dream, and American civic culture.
