HIST 176B: History of Cuba

History 176B presents a survey of Cuban history from pre-Columbian times to the present, with particular attention given to the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The dominant thematic elements of the course include race and nationality, the emergence of Cuban identity, the nineteenth century wars of independence, the early republic, and the Cuban revolution of Fidel Castro.
