HIST 22: U.S. History since 1865

History 22 will offer a survey introduction to American History from the Civil War to the Present. Important themes in American political, economic, and social history will be explored. The principal texts will be contemporary sources ranging from white and Native American accounts of the settlement of the Great Plains and Booker T. Washington's Up From Slavery to a sampler of writings in women's magazines during the 1950s. Course assignments will consist of a midterm and a final exam.
